Pregnancy is an exciting time. Have a look at some groups taking place near you where you can meet other parents, look after yourself and plan for when your baby arrives.  

Meet other parents and plan for baby's arrival

Antenatal classes

A four week course for parents to be covering:

  • Labour and birth
  • Infant feeding
  • Baby Practical
  • Getting to know your baby

Pregnancy social groups

Pregnancy social groups happen across the city for any parent to be. 

They are relaxed informal friendly sessions from Healthworks who offer support and information. Click the link to find the next drop in near you. 

 

Breastfeeding social

Delivered by Healthworks staff and volunteers across the city.   They offer a way to connect with other breastfeeding mothers.  

This includes handy tips and an opportunity to get support from staff and volunteers. Attend during pregnancy to connect with other parents, or once your baby has arrived. No need to book, drop in anytime. 

Looking after your mental health and wellbeing during pregnancy

Pregnancy in Mind

Join an online group for any parents-to-be who are feeling anxious or depressed during pregnancy. It focuses on mindfulness, relaxation and coping strategies. 

Parents can attend individually, together or with a supporter. It is a service delivered on a group-work basis and can be delivered face to face or virtual.

Little Minds in Mind

Little Minds in Mind is a service for parents and caregivers who want to strengthen their relationship with their baby, during pregnancy or after their baby is born. They offer;

  • drop in information sessions
  • Preparing for Baby, a four week course
  • Baby's Here, short workshops covering different topics
  • Bump Buddies, a trained volunteer to support parents during pregnancy

One to one support

Emotional and practical support from Healthworks staff and volunteers which could include:

  • helping with birth plans
  • support to access groups
  • support to appointments
  • talk though topics such as infant feeding
  • caring for baby
  • baby development
  • building loving relationships

Incredible Babies

A citywide parenting course delivered by Barnardo's Family Partners.  

This is for parents to be or parents with a child under 6 months.

Understanding your baby

Delivered by Action for Children family practitioners. 6-week programme following principles of Solihull for parents of 0-9 month olds.

Young parent baby practical plus

A citywide offer delivered at Nunsmoor for parents under 25.  

Offering practical support and information on baby development delivered by Action for Children family practitioners. 

Additional wraparound support is provided for parents who are 19yrs and under.
