Byker Primary School is a welcoming, friendly school set inside the Byker wall, in the East end of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
We provide a wide range of activities, giving children opportunities to explore and develop skills using both indoor and outdoor environments. We are a well equipped nursery that offers children scope and space to become independent while enjoying the knowledge that they are safe, valued and listened to.
We cater for children 0-5 years. We follow the EYFS curriculum which is a mix of child initiated and adult led activities. We provide a wide variety of activities to cater for each child’s individual needs. We place a large emphasis on outdoor play and the children can access all areas of the curriculum both outside and in. Examples of activities are all kinds of creative and messy play, water, sand gardening, cooking.

The school is a Community Co-educational First School. The building has a large hall and adjoining dining area. We have six classrooms for Key stages 1 & 2. The Foundation Stage Unit for Nursery and Reception age children consists of three classrooms and an outside play area / outdoor classroom.
We provide on-site wraparound care during term time for children at St Charles’ Catholic Primary School. We also offer a holiday club.
